Changing the Channel introduces the Oneness Experience, referred to throughout the book as the Blessing.
The Blessing is a transfer of energy, given through touch or the power of intent. It brings a sense of calm and balance.
There are sixteen centres in the brain which are responsible for definitive experiences, such as sensory perception, the emotions of jealousy, hatred, love, fear, compassion, our sense of separation and connectedness, and our ability to be creative and learn. When the Blessing is given it initiates a neuro-biological change in the brain causing the activation of certain centres and the de-activation of others.
When we find ourselves in a situation that we interpret as being stressful or dangerous, chemicals will be fired off in the parietal lobes, which induces our response to fight or flight. This is an ancient survival response and is over-developed for our current way of living. The neuro-biological change effected by the Blessing allows the brain to respond calmly, bringing a shift in our perception and experience of our circumstances.
Having the Blessing regularly causes a person to become more relaxed and centred; the challenges of life do not cease but we feel less reactive to situations. We can see that our suffering does not come from the incident itself but the way we have perceived it. We can see we have imagined slight and offence where there is none. This re-balancing allows us to embrace every facet of our personalities, instead of being afraid of our anger, our laziness and our jealousy. We accept ourselves as we truly are and become able to observe life, instead of seeing it through distorting filters.
Consequently our health improves as fewer debilitating chemicals are being fired off into our nervous system; this also has the effect of enabling much greater clarity of thought, making us more effective in our daily lives. Our memory improves, better hemispheric synchronisation occurs and our brain waves go into alpha, which is the optimum state for learning and for the body to rejuvenate.
The Blessing is also referred to as Deeksha, the Sanskrit word for benediction.
